Located off the southern tip of
Ambergris Caye, Hol Chan Marine Reserve is Belize's oldest marine reserve. Hol
Chan which is Mayan for 'little channel" was established in 1987.
In 1999, Shark Ray Alley, an adjacent section
of the Belize Barrier Reef, was added to further protect this unparalleled
diving/snorkeling experience for visitors and an important refuge for marine
life.
No visit to Ambergris Caye is complete
without a trip to Hol Chan – either as a diver, a snorkeler, or in a glass
bottom boat.
